The Commtouch Outbound Spam Protection is a high performance solution that supports real-time spam classifications, allowing fast detection and blocking of outbound spam. Unique outbound spam detection algorithms have been implemented, supporting the detection of locally-generated outbound spam, as well as outbound spam that is part of a global outbreak. The Commtouch Outbound Spam Protection solution identifies the spammer, not only spam. Real-time spammer abuse information is provided, allowing service providers to react quickly to minimize their network abuse.
The Commtouch Outbound Spam Protection solution is a plug-n-play email-borne spam and malware outbreak detection daemon that combines your current core messaging network infrastructure with advanced detection and classification capabilities. The daemon adds a layer of email filtering to your mail delivery system in order to provide real-time classification, already in the first minutes after a new outbreak is launched.
When analyzing new incoming emails, Commtouch utilizes a classification methodology, known as the Recurrent Pattern Detection (RPD™) technology to identify threat patterns in real-time as they are released to the Internet within an outbreak.
The Commtouch Outbound Spam Protection solution protects against two major types of spam:
Intentional spam: when a customer is sending unsolicited bulk email messages to advertise their services, products, or promotional material about the company itself.
Compromise accounts: when spammers succeed in hacking accounts and using them to spread massive spam attacks. This is often the result of users selecting weak passwords, default passwords, etc. for accounts that are hosted on “good reputation” servers. By compromising the account, the spammer often ends up compromising the server itself and the server’s IP address is blacklisted.
Commtouch’s solution deploys a unique outbound anti-spam solution on Plesk to provide protection against blacklisting of the shared-hosting servers by detecting and blocking the messages before they are sent.
In the current version of Commtouch for Plesk, both Qmail and Postfix MTAs are supported. For more information about the Commtouch Outbound solution for Plesk, click here.
